Record Review: Bruce Springsteen “Working On a Dream”…Plus New European Tour Dates

It’s always hard to comment about somone’s latest release without comparing the new to their past accomplishments. Is it wrong to do? Of course it is. I will always champion the days of “Greetings From Asbury Park”, “Darkness”, “Born To Run”, and “The River”…I love the old school rock n roll, the horns, and the monster anthems. Upon first listen, I don’t hear or feel that on the new release “Working On a Dream”, but I must say it’s a damn fine record. Bruce is what he is…a great writer with a knack for the hook.
“Working on a Dream” has a pinch of the old, with a dash of new. A satisfying recipe for most…but I would still like more of the “Big Man”. Haa! Stubborn bastard that I am.
Plenty of money songs “This Life”, “Surprise Surprise”, “Outlaw Pete”, “Queen of The Supermarket”,and “The Wrestler”.
A worthy buy indeed…”RGC” gives it: 8 on a 10 scale
