Rock God Cred Report:

Mr. George Thorogood has signed on with the bigs again (Capitol Records)  to make an interesting album titled “The Dirty Dozen”.  The first six are new songs for you to digest, and the second six are listed as “fan favorites”. The new tunes are solid…never veering too far from the patented “Thorogood” sound.  You know the drill…the growling vocals, steady backbeat, and the good ol’ slide.  I am diggin’ the 50′s rock n roll feel incorporated in the new stuff .   Thorogood always had a little of it in the past, but he always reverted back to the safe haven of barroom rock.  On the “fan favorite” side GT hits up songs by Howlin’ Wolf, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, and Willie Dixon.  All of the cuts are solid toonage, but I prefer the 6 new recordings.  If you are a fan of George Thorogood it is indeed a worthy buy.  Must have tunes…”Born Lover”, “Twenty Dollar Gig”, and “Tail Dragger”

Track List:  (New Tunes) “Tail Dragger”, “Drop Down Mama”, “Run Myself Out of Town”, “Born Lover”, “Twenty Dollar Gig”, “Let Me Pass”…(Fan Favorites) “Howlin’ For My Baby”, “Highway 49″, “Six Days on The Road”, “Treat Her Right”, “Hello Little Girl”, and “Blue Highway”

Sly and The Family Stone “Stand!” From The Woodstock Experience

Sly & The Family Stone Woodstock Experience

Rock God Cred Report:

This is the third review of five great new releases of the Woodstock Experience sessions that we will visit.  The cd’s are being released to coincide with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Woodstock Festival.  They pair a keystone album by the artist with a second disc of their live set at the original Woodstock Concert 8/17/69.

Sly Stone…the inventor of funk.  With one the “tightest” bands including Larry Graham on bass, Freddie Stone on guitar, Rose Stone on Keyboards, Jerry Marinin on Sax, and Cynthia Robinson on trumpet….they literally woke up the chemically subdude crowd at Woodstock.  Similar to Otis Redding at Monterey.  One listen to the studio work of “Stand!”, and your will see that Sly played to all crowds.  He came on hard & political with “Don’t Call Me Nigger, Whitey”, played to the masses with “Everyday People”, and kept his soul with “I Want to Take You Higher”.  “Stand!” is a gem…but it’s the live cd of Sly and The Family Stone’s Woodstock set that the music comes alive.  This band was meant to be heard live.  Check the track list below…

1) “M’Lady (previously unissued)”, 2) “Sing a Simple Song (previously unissued”, 3) “You Can Make It If You Try (previously unissued)”, 4) “Everyday People (previously unissued)”, 5) “Dance to The Music”, 6) Medley: Music Lover/Higher”, 7) “I Want to Take You Higher (previously unissued)”, 8) “Love City (previously unissued)”, 9) “Stand! (previously unissued)”

It Might Get Loud…New Movie With Jimmy Page, The Edge, and Jack White

it might get loud posterRock God Cred Report:

Now this looks pretty damn good my friends…coming to a theater near you August 14th…check the info below:

Rarely can a film penetrate the glamorous surface of rock legends.  It Might Get Loud tells the personal stories, in their own words, of three generations of electric guitar virtuosos – The Edge (U2), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), and Jack White (The White Stripes).  It reveals how each developed his unique sound and style of playing favorite instruments, guitars both found and invented.  Concentrating on the artist’s musical rebellion, traveling with him to influential locations, provoking rare discussion as to how and why he writes and plays, this film lets you witness intimate moments and hear new music from each artist.  The movie revolves around a day when Jimmy Page, Jack White, and The Edge first met and sat down together to share their stories, teach and play.
