New Dinosaur Jr Release “I Bet On Sky”…Check Album Cover, Tracklist & 2012 Tour Dates…Plus More Info

Posted in Record Review, Tour Dates and Info, Tunes tagged , , at 12:34 am by The Snob

Rock God Cred Report:

The lads from Dinosaur Jr are back at it with the new release “I Bet On Sky”.  The album has a 9/17 release date UK & Europe, 9/18 North America.

Click here to check a cool Dinosaur Jr site where you can hear streams of their music, and download some previous live shows.

Bet on Sky is the third Dinosaur Jr. album since the original trio – J Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph – reformed in 2005. It marks the band’s 10th studio album since their debut on Homestead Records in 1985. The trio has taken everything they’ve learned from the various projects they tackled over the years, and poured it directly into their current mix. J’s guitar approaches some of its most unhinged playing here – this is head-bobbing riff-romance at the apex. Lou’s basswork has more melody now as well, although his two songs on I Bet on Sky retain the jagged rhythmic edge that has so often marked hiswork. And Murph…well, he still pounds the drums as hard and as strong as a pro wrestler, with deceptively simple structures that manage to interweave themselves perfectly with his bandmates’ melodic explosions.

 The tracklisting is:

1.    Don’t Pretend You Didn’t Know 2. Watch TheCorners 3. Almost Fare 4. Stick A Toe In 5. Rude 6. I Know It Oh So Well 7.Pierce The Morning Rain 8. What Was That 9. Recognition 10. See It On Your Side

Joe Walsh’s New Album “Analog Man” Out Today! Listen to Full Album Stream

Posted in Notable News, Record Review tagged , , at 9:09 pm by The Snob

Rock God Cred Report:

Click here to check a full stream of the new Joe Walsh release “Analog Man” (Hot Cuts: Lucky That Way, Spanish Dancer, Wrecking Ball, Funk 50)

Two big thumbs up for the first new solo release by Mr. Walsh in 20 years.  Analog Man has been spinning in the vehicle for two weeks now…it gets more contagious with each listen.  Fave tune of the cd is “Lucky That Way”!  Good stuff that  f’n classic radio should be playing daily.  Take a listen to the stream above, and you will agree with The Snob.  Ya gotta love this guy.  Here’s some more info…

Grammy Award winning rock and roll legend Joe Walsh returns with Analog Man, his first solo album in two decades to be released on June 5th, 2012 from Fantasy Records/Concord.  Analog Man is both modern and timelessly soulful, packed with Walsh’s beloved wit, charm and chops; it delivers an incredibly raw and intimate sound.

“It’s been 20 years and I have a lot to say,” said Walsh.  “These songs come from the heart.”  Walsh, best known for his powerful guitar licks, joined the Eagles in 1976 and is credited for bringing a harder rock sound to the band with the acclaimed Hotel California, The Long Run and Eagles Live.  A singer-songwriter and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Walsh has entertained for more than four decades, not only as a solo artist, but as part of admired bands like The James Gang and Barnstorm.

As a self-proclaimed Analog Man, also the album name and title track, Walsh refers playfully to the new digital age; one in which he has adapted to, but notes in the song, “I am what I am – I’m an Analog Man.” Walsh developed the album over the last 10 years, drawing on personal experiences to breathe life into each track.  “I just really feel like it’s all come together and finally I feel like a complete person and a complete musician,” said Walsh.  “I think there is some confidence in there that I never had. That’s what I was hiding.”  Walsh credits his wife of four years, Marjorie, for encouraging him to be the man and artist he is today and fondly dedicates this album to her.

The 10-track album was produced by Jeff Lynne and Joe Walsh with Tommy Lee James co-writing some of the tracks.  “Lucky That Way,” one of Walsh’s favorites off the album, speaks to the extraordinary life he’s lived, even through the hurdles, and features Ringo Starr, his real life brother-in-law, on drums.  The song ironically serves as a mature sequel to Walsh’s famed “Life’s Been Good” and for Walsh, life is just that.

Re-Release of 70’s Lost Classics From Network “Networrk/Nightwork”…Plus Check “We’re Only Into Rock and Roll”

Posted in Notable News, Record Review, Tunes tagged at 1:18 am by The Snob

Rock God Cred Report:

Renaissance Records/ It’s About Music.Com have pulled another forgotten gem out of the closet…late 70’s band Network, and the re-release of  a two for the price of one “Network/Nightwork”.  The New York band’s first two releases compiled on one cd…not bad!

Network consisted of Richie Cerniglia (guitars), Mike Maniscalo (keyboards), Mike Ricciardella (drums), who had previously spent time with Wiggy Bits, along side Peppy Castro (of Balance fame).  Prior to that, Ricciardella was with the pioneering NYC ensemble The Illusion.  The band was formed in 1976,  with the above lineup (exception being John Vinci, who sang lead vocals).  Apparently the record label wanted the lads to change their names, because they thought they were too Italian…not sure why they would think that…

Network released their debut album in 1977, followed up by “Nightwork” a year later, on which new singer B.G. Gibson appeared.  Both albums did garner good reviews from the music press, despite the “Disco”monster that was king in NYC at that time.  “Network/Nightwork” are the only two albums the lads released…but Cerniglia, andRicciardella would years later join the band Aviator.

The music is definitely of their times…late 70’s.  Nightwork rocks a little harder than the polished Network…but it is a bargain to get both albums on one cd…hey East Coast pals…you have to remember these dudes!

Click here to check “We’re Only Into Rock and Roll”

Click here to go to Renaissance Records/It’s About Music.com to check lots of artists that time has forgotten.  Some good stuff to be had.
